How is it possible that I seem to know nothing about almost everything?

Does anyone know anything about noice canceling headphones? All I hear about is Bose, but they seem to be a solid $400. I like to wear over the ear headphones while grinding poker and need to buy a new pair. I usually just get cheap $20 ones, but might as well consider a better product.

I really don't need $400 headphones so just seeing if anyone knows of around $100 solid noise canceling ones and/or wireless. Or just go with cheap until I want to splurge for the Bose?

beats by dre are nice. a couple of the students in my dorm have htem here.

just try to go to a music store and try on some headphones. just find a comfortable pair if you aren't looking for high quality. a pair that wont irritate you for hours on end.

for my money BOSE sucks ... but I just mix music all day for a living

Headphones and speakers are like women, what works for me may not work for you .... you need to go some where with your MP3 player of choice and listen to a bunch of em and pick which YOU LIKE. IE if your listening to Opera or Susan Boyle what works with that may not work with T-Pain as well ....

not sure if ya have anywhere you can do that though .....

I think I made a mistake and went with a $50 pair of wireless headphones. Not so bad, but probably need noise canceling instead of wireless. Havn't been able to find any that do both yet.

I use iphone and mostly listen to podcasts instead of music. When I do listen to music it's rap and sounds fine, but there's a little too much crackling when listening to podcasts, not so good.

Watch slickdeals, bensbargains, fatwallet, etc. when you want another pair.

Here's a wireless + noise canceling though:

I'd take 'em back. The static is probably because the transmitter is totally underpowered (very likely) and because almost everything "wireless" that doesn't use infra-red (very few) uses the same frequency (2.4 ghz) that all microwave ovens and nearly all wireless routers use.

In other words, someone using a microwave oven (especially an older one) within about 50 feet or so (sometimes more) will create "static"... and if you are sitting near a wireless router, IT can create static... and because 2.4 ghz is not a FCC-controlled frequency, any other stuff transmitting radio signals nearby can also "leak" into the same frequency as your headphones (the FCC doesn't require manufacturers to prevent devices from leaking over into uncontrolled frequencies.)

That crap can be filtered out, but building a headset with that capability is going to drive the price through the roof.

I'd need a really, really good reason to even consider wireless headphones right now, the only ones I've seen with decent sound fidelity use an alternative frequency or infra-red (which only works well over very short distances) and are wildly expensive.

I would agree that Bose gets mixed reviews -- individuals either love them or hate them; however, for noise cancellation, they consistently rate at the top.

Looks like I'm going with the Sennheiser HD-280 Professional Headphones.

Gonna buy them today unless someone knows anything specific of why I shouldn't. Newegg is a good site/place to buy them?

Newegg is awesome! I buy a ton of stuff from them.

Sennheiser is a great brand. I have a pair of their headphones - not noise canceling.
